With the support of the International Visegrad Fund (IVF), a focus group discussion was held at the Energy Training Center under the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC). The event took place as part of the ongoing project, "Energy Infrastructure Security During Climate Change-Induced Disasters." Representatives from GNERC, the Energy Training Center, the Energy Ombudsman’s Office, operating energy companies, academia, and sector experts participated in the discussion.

The purpose of the discussion was to assess the preparedness of Georgia's energy infrastructure during climate-induced disasters—specifically, to identify existing issues, highlight key trends, challenges, and needs, and formulate proposals to enhance infrastructure resilience. The interactive Q&A session focused on regulatory frameworks, technical standards, preparedness, forecasting, response mechanisms, and identifying critical needs for energy infrastructure security.

The primary objective of the project is to share the experience of Visegrad Group countries (Hungary, Czechia, Poland, and Slovakia) with Georgia regarding energy infrastructure resilience and climate disaster preparedness. Planned project outputs include preparing a research study, examining best international practices and regulatory frameworks, creating a practical guidebook, and developing tailored recommendations from international experts. The project also encompasses public lectures and training sessions, with Guria selected as the pilot region.
